We had to start with the obvious,there is no better time to start an exercise routine than the start of the year its cold we are sick of eating and we usually have a few weeks to wait for a paycheck.Take up running in the park there are lots of clubs around,or simply take the dog for an extra walk every morning.If you start the day off well it usually continues this way.Exercise pumps oxygen around the body and wakes up your skin cells giving you that much needed glow after Xmas.Track your progress with a FitBit wristband it also helps track your sleep ...multitasking and it looks slick.
GET A TRIM/MAKEOVER
Our hair isn’t called our crowning glory for nothing.Its usually the first thing people notice about us and its the one thing that can make or break our day so why do we abuse it so much.Commit to a trim every 6/8 weeks to keep it looking strong and while you're at it indulge in a treatment every couple of weeks.Ravens fav is Kerstase Masque Elixir.This treatment is blended with oils to help nourish dry ends and return it to its lustrious self.We have to wear our hair everyday after all.LOVE IT PLEASE
Your spots,your shellac,your grey hairs out,your cuticles.Just Stop !!!! Aggravating your skin by picking your spots will just make it worse and cause infection.Try Pro x spot fading Treatment by Olay.Never strip your own shellac.It is our guilty pleasure too but we can strip away the first layer of our nails and destroy the nail bed. We book our treatments and are always excited about feeling good after.Why do so many of us feel embarrassed about asking simple questions about preparation during treatments? We feel we should know the answers already! NONSENSE! Raven answers all the questions.
Shower ,shave and exfoliate the night before your spray tan .We like Chanel Coco Mademoiselle Gentle body exfoliant .Moisturise with a non oily moisturiser concentrating on knees ,backs of ankles and elbows .The skin is rougher in these areas so tan can accumulate if not moisturised properly.Shower the morning of your treatment again use non oily shower gel and no moisturiser.It is better remove all undergarments before an as it allows for full coverage without lines.If you are too embarrassed ,leave on some underwear but remember tan stains. Afterwards wear loose fitting clothes and shoes until your tan dries to avoid streaking.
For best results arrive for your stylist with dry, day old hair.This allows the hair to have the movement and grit that the stylist needs to manoeuvre your hair into a shape easily and pins and clips stay put all day long.The only exception to this is if you suffer from oily hair.Wash your hair the morning of with a volumising shampoo, we like Kerastase Bain Volumifique .Inform your stylist you have done this and so they can adjust their tools and products for lasting results.Also don’t be afraid to arrive with a couple of photos/magazine cutouts of desired hair for the day. It is easier for everyone.
Ahhh the dreaded waxing.What should we leave ,what should we take off? What should we wear? Waxing is so personal ,some people like to be natural with a little maintaince some hate any hair from the nose down.Wax experts have seen it all and it is all normal.If its a Hollywood you will have to go commando,but otherwise you can leave underwear on and your expert will pop some clean tissue between you and your underwear to stop wax spills. Exfoliating gently the area near your legs the night before will help avoid dreaded ingrown hairs,and a little tea tree oil afterwards helps avoid infection.
There is always the awkward moment just before you get on the bed .Should we have left our bra on?OOO no my legs are not shaved . No need to worry ,all a masseuse is worried about is weather you are comfortable and relaxed. It is best to leave your underwear on but remove your bra. Exfoliating the night before will allow the oils to be absorbed by the skin better.Drink plenty of water afterwards as all the toxins are being flushed out. If you have specific areas that you would like the masseuse to work on/or avoid like back or shoulders ,its good to voice this before in order to get the best from your treatment..
With the hole in the ozone layer getting bigger by the day,we really have no excuse to skip this step in our morning routine.Even on rainy days UV rays can penetrate the skin causing cancer and wrinkles.Sunscreen also protects us against pigmentation ,burn and development of brown spots.With advancements in makeup meaning most lipsticks and foundations come with factor included ,we really have no excuse.Aim for no less than factor 20.
Flossing is more effective than brushing alone at removing food particles .It gets inbetween teeth and removes bacteria from the gumline which causes gum disease and tooth loss.Neglecting to floss is also linked to bigger issues such as Diabetes and heart disease.Flossing regularly will also save you money in dentist bills in the future by keeping check on tartar buildup .
3) CUTICLE OIL
We never really know why after a manicure we have oil applied to our nails!Well cuticle oil is used on the rough skin around our nails to prevent ripping and tearing and to give the nail a better appearance as it grows and to prevent infection.It is packed with vitamin E and usually almond or avocado oil.Pop a few drops on before bed at night in between manicures to keep nails in tip top condition.
4)HAIR HEAT PROTECT
Over the last decade women have become addicted to heated appliances.Hair dryers,straight irons and tongs are an everyday routine,and with the heat being notched up to 220 degrees,we really need to protect our hair .A spray or cream heat protection acts as a barrier between our hair and styling tool .This prevents burning,frazzled and porous hair and stops colour fading prematurely.
The skin around our eyes is more delicate than almost anywhere else on the body.It is the first place we can see signs of tiredness,age , dehydration and dark circles .Eye cream can give this area a much needed boost and some brightness .Choose one with hydraulic acid, retinol and vitamin C for best results .
